Aligning STS with Government Priorities

The Sensory Translation Strategy (STS) is designed to work alongside — not replace — existing public sector frameworks and legislative requirements.

STS aligns with:

• Disability Action Plans.

• The Disability Act 2006.

• Occupational Health and Safety legislation (including psychosocial risk obligations).

This supports agencies in meeting their compliance requirements while improving workplace outcomes. 

By addressing performance issues at a system level, STS:

• reduces reliance on formal dispute resolution processes

• decreases administrative overhead

• limits escalation into grievances and external complaints

STS aligns with the Victorian Public Sector Commission’s focus on:

• psychological safety

• inclusive workplaces

• positive organisational culture

Because STS:

• does not require diagnostic disclosure

• operates upstream of disciplinary processes
